About Ted
I was that kid who started a half a dozen instruments or so growing up, but when I graduated from high school, I didn't play anything. I was disgusted with myself because I have always loved music. I was "that guy" with the dream but no drive. So I went and picked up a harmonica.
My dad played in harmonica quartets when he was a kid, so he gave me a few pointers, but mostly it was hours of hyperventilating into that thing until I recognized bits of familiar tunes, then I would come up with the rest of the song from there.
That harmonica went with me through the Army, paramedic school, marriage and raising four kids. I lost it somewhere in the Grand Teton Mountains during Search & Rescue training.
Around age 1995 I lost a job installing antenna towers for cell phone systems after spending a few hundred dollars on tools. I was able to sell most of the tools to the guys I worked with. I took some of that money and bought a guitar. It was a cheap piece of crap acoustic (I paid $80 for it), that fell apart in my hands in 2 years. But that was long enough for playing to get into my blood, and justified spending a few hundred for a better one.
In 2005 I started teaching guitar, soon after I added bass lessons. Now I teach Guitar (Electric & Acoustic), Bass, Ukulele and Harmonica. I play a few more, but wouldn't be very good at teaching those.
So come on in and let's get playing your instrument into your blood!

Notes are the building blocks of scales, scales are the building blocks of chords, chords are the building blocks of songs. So that is the order I teach. Learning from me you'll not only know how to play songs, you will learn why.
Music is a language, if you just want to learn how to speak it (just knowing enough to be able to play songs, save your money and search out your favorite songs on Guitar Tab sites. If you want to learn how to speak, write and understand the great language of music, and comprehend its meaning, then let's get started!
We'll work from the plucking out basic scales and tunes to songwriting, multi track recording and performing as a solo and part of a band.
