About Emma

Harp for all occasions! Emma is a highly accomplished professional orchestral harpist for over 20 years. Trained in Usui Reiki and guided with intention, Emma has expanded to include sound healing to her extensive repertoire. Through creating captivating music and leading therapeutic sound healing sessions (similar to Yoga Nidra), she shares her passion with others. To facilitate healing, she calls upon ancient gongs and soothing singing bowls, which she combines with mystical acoustic and modern electric harps. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system and promotes healing. Emma finds fulfillment in providing a unique and grounding experience each time Reiki energy is transmuted into sound.

About the lesson

Teaching music has been some of the most rewarding work I have ever been given!

Whether virtual or in-person, I tailor and adapt my lesson plans to each student’s particular learning style and can accommodate a wide range of eager learners of all ages!

Harp:
Ages 4 and up
Salzedo* method
I emphasize theory, musicianship, sound healing, and improvisation/composition for all my students.
I do alter my teaching technique to fit the hands and hearts of my students.

*Carlos Salzedo revolutionized harp playing to allow for more intentional movement and release of tension.
Salzedo’s virtuosic student, Alice Chalifoux, is who my lineage of harp technique stems from.

**Reading music is a big help to harp study. I do recommend a piano background for anyone wanting a shortcut to harp studies!

Piano:
Age 4 and up.
Bastien and Faber method books.
I am not a concertizing pianist. I have studied classical and jazz piano for nearly 30 years. I emphasize theory, musicianship, sound healing, and improvisation/composition for all my students. My teaching style is structured around each student’s needs and goals.

Theory:
I coach any age for composers, songwriters, anyone interested in a more intellectual study.
I’m well-versed in General Music theory/history, Schenkerian analysis, and Jazz theory.

All Students:
I incorporate Alexander Technique into my playing, teaching, walking, standing, driving..you name it! Alexander Technique strengthens the student’s technique by studying their individual tendencies and broader human biomechanics to create a style of practicing that eases the body and calms the mind.
