About Tia
I hold a Master’s degree in Music with specialisation in guitar and have nine years of teaching experience across various skill levels. My approach balances structured technical instruction with creative exploration, allowing students to develop both accuracy and expressive musicality in their playing. Beyond teaching, I actively perform and continuously study new techniques and repertoire. This ongoing engagement allows me to bring fresh ideas, modern approaches, and practical performance insights into lessons, keeping students motivated while providing relevant and inspiring learning experiences. I value helping students discover their unique musical voice and confidence on the guitar. By adapting lessons to each learner’s strengths and challenges, celebrating progress, and encouraging creativity, I aim to nurture both technical mastery and a lifelong love for music.

My lessons begin with building a solid foundation in guitar fundamentals, including posture, finger placement, and basic chord progressions. Students practise exercises to strengthen finger dexterity, rhythm, and coordination, preparing them to play songs confidently and develop essential technical skills. As students progress, I introduce scales, improvisation, and ear training to connect technique with creativity. Learners explore diverse genres such as classical, rock, blues, and acoustic, applying their skills to real music pieces. This approach enhances both technical ability and expressive musicality, fostering a deeper connection to the instrument. Each lesson is personalised to the student’s goals, whether preparing for performances, exams, or learning for personal enjoyment. Through step-by-step guidance, constructive feedback, and consistent encouragement, students gain steady improvement, build confidence, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for guitar playing.
