About Carly
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for over six years. My academic and performance experience allows me to provide structured, engaging lessons that develop both technical proficiency and expressive musicality for students at all levels. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners, tailoring lessons to individual goals. Some focus on classical techniques, others on modern styles, and some prepare for performances or exams. My experience ensures lessons are personalized, effective, and enjoyable. What drives me as a tutor is helping students discover their musical voice. I believe learning guitar develops discipline, creativity, and confidence. My guitar lessons begin with building a strong technical foundation. Students focus on proper hand positioning, chord transitions, and strumming techniques, which help them develop coordination, timing, and finger strength. These basics allow learners to play songs accurately while preparing for more advanced challenges.
As students advance, I introduce scales, fingerstyle exercises, and improvisation. By combining theory with practical application, learners understand harmony, melody, and rhythm. This approach encourages creativity, allowing students to compose solos, explore different genres, and develop a personal musical style while reinforcing technical skills.
Performance and expressive playing are emphasized in every lesson. Students practice dynamics, timing, and stage presence, preparing them for recitals, exams, or informal performances. My teaching approach balances technical accuracy with musicality, ensuring learners can convey emotion and artistry through their playing confidently.
