About Marissa
I am a dedicated guitar tutor with 12 years of experience teaching high school and college students. Over the years, I have successfully taught around 250 students, helping them achieve their musical goals. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a fun and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable to explore their passion for music. I tailor each lesson to the individual’s needs, whether they are beginners or advanced learners. I believe in a hands-on approach, combining technique, theory, and creativity to inspire growth and confidence in playing guitar. My goal is to make learning guitar a rewarding and enjoyable experience for every student.

My teaching approach is designed to help students build a solid foundation while fostering a love for music and guitar. I focus on communication, integrity, and cultural sensitivity, ensuring every student feels heard and valued. I tailor each lesson to meet individual needs, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or looking to advance to professional levels.
I begin by understanding the student's goals and current skills. From there, we work on building essential techniques such as finger placement, strumming, scales, and chords, while exploring different guitar styles like classical, jazz, electric, acoustic, and bass. I also incorporate music theory, ear training, and rhythm exercises to enhance musicality and overall understanding of the guitar.
I believe in a hands-on approach where students actively participate and enjoy learning through practice. I encourage creativity, self-expression, and exploration of various genres to make the learning process engaging. My goal is to help students develop a deep passion for playing guitar while ensuring a positive, fun, and supportive learning experience.
