About Cedric

Hi, I’m Cédric. I’m a classical guitarist from New Brunswick, currently finishing my Doctorate in Music Performance at the University of Toronto — but the part of my job I actually care about is the moment a student plays something they were sure they couldn’t. I started on electric guitar: rock, blues, metal, years before I ever touched a classical piece. So I’m genuinely fluent in both worlds, and I won’t push you toward one. Along the way I was named one of CBC’s 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 and won First Prize at the Canadian National Music Festival two years running — which mostly means I know what it takes to get good, and how to shortcut the parts that waste your time. I teach in English and French, in person in Toronto or online. Complete beginners are just as welcome here as advancing players — and if you’ve been told you’re “not musical,” I’d love the chance to prove otherwise.

About the lesson

What that looks like in practice: fingerstyle Bach or a riff you can’t stop humming. Chord changes that stop feeling impossible. Understanding the fretboard instead of memorizing shapes. Playing a full song front to back within your first few weeks. Preparing for RCM exams, a university audition, or a competition? I’ve done all three, and I’ll get you there. Just want to play for the joy of it with zero exam pressure? Equally welcome — most of my students are here for exactly that. Expect real technique and real progress, plus a fair amount of laughing. I don’t take myself too seriously, and you’ll learn faster when you’re relaxed than when you’re worried about looking silly. Your first lesson is free — 30 minutes, no commitment, just a chance to figure out where you want to go.
