Find out more about Julian

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

Around the age of 12 I started listening to a lot of my older sister's music and then shortly after began guitar lessons with my dad.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I think I definitely go through stages of listening very deeply to one or two artists, at the moment I'm really enjoying listening to local artists and the music my friends are making.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

Probably pulling a student on stage at a gig and seeing what happens would certainly be the most riveting lesson!
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Every instrument has it's challenges, though the voice is definitely an instrument that takes years to become confident in, expand upon and understand how it can change from day to day.
  • What are your keys to success?

Focus on and understand the reason as to why you're striving for something, not where you are or where you want to be. Intrinsic markers are the most important thing to feel successful in what you do, especially in the world of music.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I want to meet three musicians I've never heard of before so I can add them to my list of people to listen to.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

    Always be listening.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I care very deeply about music and helping people find a way to feel that too, I believe playing and appreciating music should a part of everyone's life.
