About Isobel
Hello, I’m Isobel! I’ve been teaching guitar for over 12 years. I am particularly interested in how we learn music and navigate different aspects of learning, such as feeling stuck on our instruments, performance anxiety, and self-criticism, so we can truly enjoy learning and playing music and tap into the creativity that we all have in us. I have a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from Concordia University, and the styles I love and teach are folk, jazz, rock, pop and bluegrass. My goal is to help students find joy and motivation in all aspects of learning and playing music and tackle the more challenging elements without feeling rushed or stressed, but with enough support and structure to reach their goals!

I tailor my lessons to each student individually, so we can focus on what you want to learn as well as your musical interests. I love teaching students to better understand the neck of the guitar and improve their ear training skills, so they can feel more confident when playing. I work with students of all levels, some who wish to learn at a more relaxed pace and others who ask for very detailed practice plans and more structure. Mostly, I enjoy understanding what each student is looking for and working to help them achieve their goals, always ensuring that students feel supported and are excited about what they are learning.

Perfect! Isobel is a really great teacher! She understood exactly what guitar skills I want to work on and helped me set some realistic goals for the next few months. I've already started to understand things I've been stuck on for a long time. I highly recommend her as a teacher!
