About Ewan
I am a passionate and experienced guitar tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and over 6 years of hands-on teaching and performance experience. My journey with the guitar began as a creative outlet in my teenage years, and it quickly became both a personal passion and a professional path. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students from various age groups and musical backgrounds toward their goals with patience, encouragement, and practical instruction. My teaching philosophy is centered on adaptability and student engagement. I understand that every guitarist learns differently, and I take the time to tailor each lesson to fit individual strengths, challenges, and musical interests. Whether a student dreams of playing in a band, writing their own songs, or just learning for fun, I work to make that vision both accessible and enjoyable. I place great emphasis on developing strong foundational skills, as they are the key to long-term success on the instrument. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve helped students master everything from basic chord transitions to advanced lead techniques, integrating music theory in a way that’s easy to understand and apply. I enjoy introducing new styles and genres into lessons to keep learning fresh and inspiring. Seeing students gain confidence and creative freedom through music is what motivates me the most as a teacher. Beyond lessons, I remain active in performing, composing, and collaborating with other musicians. This real-world experience brings depth and authenticity to my teaching. I believe that learning the guitar is more than just a technical skill—it’s a way to connect, express, and explore—and I’m committed to helping each student discover that for themselves.

Guitar lessons are crafted to be both structured and flexible, accommodating beginners who are just picking up the instrument as well as more experienced players looking to expand their skills. Each session is designed to be engaging, goal-oriented, and tailored to your musical preferences. Whether you're interested in acoustic strumming, electric riffs, or songwriting, lessons focus on helping you develop as a confident, well-rounded guitarist.
In the early stages, we focus on the essentials: proper hand positioning, tuning, simple chord shapes, and rhythm fundamentals. You'll start playing real songs early on, which builds motivation and a sense of progress. Exercises are selected to improve finger strength, coordination, and timing while keeping things enjoyable and accessible.
As students advance, we dive deeper into music theory, scale work, lead techniques, and fretboard navigation. We also explore improvisation, fingerstyle patterns, and solo construction. Students can choose to focus on specific genres such as rock, pop, folk, or blues, allowing the material to reflect their individual musical interests. Theory is introduced in a practical way, helping you understand how songs are built and how to create your own.
Lessons always aim to build not only technical ability but also musical expression. Each student progresses at their own pace, and the learning environment remains supportive and personalized. Whether your goal is casual playing, performing live, or composing original music, these guitar lessons are built to help you reach it with skill and confidence.
