About Janvika
I have been teaching guitar for 8 years, holding a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance. My teaching journey began with a desire to help learners develop both technical skill and artistic expression on the instrument. I have guided students of all levels toward confident playing, performance readiness, and creative expression. My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, clear guidance, and encouragement. I tailor lessons to each student’s goals and abilities, integrating technical exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and performance practice. Creating a supportive learning environment where students feel empowered is central to my approach. Outside teaching, I actively perform, compose, and study contemporary and classical guitar techniques. Teaching guitar is deeply rewarding because I help students discover their musical voice, gain confidence, and experience the joy of music. Supporting learners in achieving both technical proficiency and expressive artistry remains the most fulfilling part of my work.

Guitar lessons are most effective when learners balance technical skill development with musical exploration. My teaching approach emphasizes chord knowledge, fingerstyle technique, strumming, solo phrasing, and tone control, helping students play confidently and expressively. Lessons include exercises for scales, improvisation, sight-reading, and repertoire, combined with performance and stage-awareness guidance. I create an encouraging environment where learners can experiment, make mistakes safely, and grow both technically and creatively. By linking theory to practice, students develop a deeper understanding of music and a sense of personal connection to their instrument.
Lesson progression is customized to learner skill. Beginners focus on posture, chord shapes, rhythm, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners refine finger dexterity, solo technique, dynamics, and articulation. Advanced learners explore improvisation, complex repertoire, musical interpretation, and stage presence. Lessons integrate performance practice, feedback, and creative exercises to develop both confidence and technical proficiency.
Guitar lessons also support creativity, discipline, and emotional expression. Students gain satisfaction from mastering challenging pieces, performing for others, and expressing themselves musically. Many discover new joy, focus, and resilience through regular practice. My goal is to help learners become confident, expressive guitarists with strong technical skills and a lifelong love for music.
