About Emily
Teaching is often seen as a way to transfer information, yet I find it functions best as a process of unlearning rigid habits. After 13 years of navigating stages and recording studios, I now dedicate my time to sharing the guitar.
Having taught 193 students, I understand that music theory, songwriting, and ear training should feel like extensions of your natural expression. Chord transitions, scales, and modes are the practical tools we utilize to keep things musical. My background from the Berklee College of Music informs how I structure these sessions. It is simply about getting the music out of your head and onto the fretboard.

The first thing we do is strike a single chord to analyze how your fingers interact with the wood and metal of the instrument. I spend the opening moments ensuring your hand position allows for maximum efficiency, which naturally prevents the fatigue that plagues many developing players. Once we have established a solid baseline, we move into specific techniques like chord transitions or scale patterns, ensuring that every movement serves the musical goal. My approach relies on a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance to break down complex theory into digestible segments that feel relevant to your goals.
You will find that my rhythm of instruction prioritizes clear feedback loops so you can hear your progress in real time. We maintain a structured environment that encourages experimentation while keeping our focus on the technical requirements of your pieces. This creates a space where your development stays consistent and trackable. My methods produce results.
