Laurent has been teaching our son for over 4 years (he is now in Year 10). We were looking for someone to not only teach, but inspire him as a player and open his eyes to all forms of music and his own creativity. We couldn’t have found a better teacher. He has taken a young boy who showed potential and made him into a talented guitarist for his age with strong technique and theory, within all aspects of music.

Laurent has worked with him on our son’s own songs and nurtured his ability to improvise solos, but more importantly his upbeat and encouraging style of teaching has kept our son as interested in playing guitar as he ever was - which is a huge compliment to Laurent . Even with PS4 and Zoom school to contend with he always looks forward to his weekly lesson to challenge and explore and most importantly have a lot of fun. Laurent has gone above and beyond our expectations.

I cannot recommend Laurent Shinar more highly. He has been a wonderful guitar teacher for our eldest son but more than that he has been his friend, guide and mentor. Laurent has been teaching my 8-year-old daughter guitar for over 18 months and has helped her not only learn how to play but also fall in love with the instrument. Laurent was helpful from the beginning, advising us on a suitable starter guitar, and has since helped with the transition to an electric. Laurent is very friendly and approachable and makes lessons fun while also keeping my daughter focused and engaged throughout. Laurent is a consummate musician and is clearly passionate about the guitar, and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a superb teacher.

Laurent has been teaching my daughter for a few years now. She really looks forward to her classes because he tailors each lesson to suit her needs so that the lesson is both engaging and productive. His teaching methods are extremely effective in that he has a relaxed style that helps the student progress quickly and retain information. I couldn't recommend him highly enough!

Online learning is tricky, so it is learning to play an instrument, but Laurent has the ability to keep the kids engaged while learning and having fun.

I would highly recommend Laurent. He is extremely engaging with my daughter and she looks forward to every lesson. He has brought her from a complete novice to prepping for grade 3 in a short space of time. He is very patient and kind yet firm which is an important balance for younger kids especially and all around a really nice man.

From not reading music to now being able to play riffs and tunes, while understanding the technical aspects of this instrument. They both continue to value Laurent's teaching and I love his cheery demeanour and flexibility with their creativity.

My son asks when Laurent is coming back. That is not normal for a music teacher!! I do not try to get Leo to practice - he just does it, in the mornings, before school... again, not normal!
Laurent is a really good teacher. He gets down to the child's level and has the right combination of authority and playfulness to make it work. He attunes his teaching to the child's level and interests and pushes just the right amount. Also gives encouragement but in a low key way without hyperbole which I think means the child trusts his opinion. He is also very flexible - even coped with having to integrate another child into Leo's lesson once! He has been reliable and punctual always. We really rate him - Leo is not naturally obedient but he listens to Laurent.

Laurent has been teaching guitar to one of my children for few months now , he's an enthusiastic and trustworthy teacher and my child is really enjoying the lessons and progressing rapidly.

Laurent has proven to be a great guitar teacher for my son aged 9. He is patient and explains concepts clearly and is very willing to teach according to his students interests.

My two boys 5 & 8 had their 1st intro lessons last night with Laurent - they loved it and have been up practicing already this morning before school. Laurent has taught my son both electric & acoustic guitar for the last 2 years. He is enthusiastic, thorough, inspirational & fun. He manages to hit the right balance between music teacher and guy in a band which inspires my 12 year old son to learn. I would definitely recommend him.
