About Yotham
I’m a composer and teacher with four years of teaching experience, and I hold a BMus and MMus in Composition and an MA in Opera Making from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Alongside teaching, I work professionally as a composer, with a particular interest in opera and contemporary classical music.
I enjoy teaching because every student approaches music differently. Some want structured theory teaching, others want feedback on their own compositions, while others are interested in harmony, orchestration, analysis or developing their ear. I try to understand what each student wants to achieve and shape lessons around that.
I aim to make lessons thoughtful, relaxed and genuinely useful, whether a student is just beginning to explore composition or already developing their own musical voice.

- Aural skills and ear training
- Developing portfolios for applications
- Sibelius and practical score preparation
I’m happy to work with beginners as well as more experienced students. Lessons are shaped around the individual: some students may want structured theory teaching, others detailed feedback on their own music, while others may want to strengthen specific skills such as orchestration, harmony or aural awareness.
