I have had a number of very enjoyable and productive Celtic (lever) harp lessons with Tracy Chan this summer. As I am retired, we have met biweekly in her home during the day. I appreciate how flexible she has been with scheduling as we have had a number of unexpected appointments that required I reschedule my tutoring sessions.

Tracy is a very accomplished musician herself, as well as excellent tutor. She is teaching me techniques, helping me improving my sight reading, and making learning to play my harp fun.

When I first contacted her, I explained that I was not interested in training to be a concert harpist. I wanted to learn to play folk and Celtic music that for my own enjoyment. She understood and respected my goals. Ths lesson plans she creates use musical arrangements suited to my skill level and not overly focused on drills and exercises that tend to make me not want to practice my harp. While there are some standard exercises included in my lessons and home practice recommendations, most of what she suggests are songs I enjoy playing.

Tracy’s friendly, nonjudgmental approach in our lessons makes it easy to work with her and look forward to my lessons. She also is teaching me very helpful things about how to use my iPad to annotate and store scores for my practicing.

I highly recommend Tracy Chan as a harp tutor. I also am looking forward to working with her as a singing tutor in future.

Learning with Tracy has been such a great experience. She’s really patient and makes every lesson fun and personalised to my needs, so I never feel pressured or stressed. I’ve noticed a big improvement in my singing since starting lessons, and I actually look forward to practising now. My daughter has been having Harp lessons with Tracy for nearly a year now and she's been amazing! She's friendly, flexible and so patient. She has clear communication and is really reliable. She has come so far with Tracy, she hadn't had any music lessons before now she can play with 4 fingers and is learning music theory along side the practical.
