About João Miranda
1. Personal Transformation – Music theory changed the way I play and understand music; I want others to have this experience too.
2. Breaking down barriers – I know how frustrating it can be to feel lost in front of a piece of sheet music, and I want to help students overcome this difficulty.
3. Passion for music – Sharing knowledge is a way to keep my passion alive and expand the reach of music.
4. Giving meaning to practice – I want to show that theory is not something distant, but rather what provides the basis for better playing, improvising and interpreting.
5. Empathy with beginners – I’ve been in the shoes of someone who didn’t understand, and this makes me teach with patience and clarity.
6. Pleasure in seeing progress – Few things are as rewarding as seeing a student understand something that seemed impossible.
7. Contribution to art – Music only grows when it is shared, and teaching is my way of contributing.
8. Desire to inspire – I want to motivate new musicians to believe in their potential, just as other teachers did for me.
9. Community building – Teaching is also about creating bonds, forming a network of people united by music.
10. Personal mission – I feel that transmitting knowledge is part of my vocation and what I want to leave as a legacy.

Music is a universal language. We all feel it, but few can understand what lies behind each sound, each chord, each silence. This is precisely where music theory comes in: the foundation that gives meaning to practice and paves the way for any student to become a complete musician.
My goal as a teacher is to make this world accessible and enjoyable for you. Many people believe that music theory is difficult, boring, or far removed from practical experience. I know what it's like to feel lost in front of a score or so many new concepts. But I want to show that learning theory can be simple, applicable, and even fun, when explained clearly and connected to the student's reality.
I have experience not only with formal music studies but also with practical experience as an instrumentalist. I understand how theory can be used to improve performance, increase confidence, and facilitate sheet music reading. Furthermore, I understand that each student has their own pace and way of learning. Therefore, I adapt my lessons to your needs: whether you're a beginner looking to understand the basics, or an intermediate musician looking to delve deeper into harmony, rhythm, or musical perception.
In my classes, you won't just memorize concepts. You'll learn to apply theory to practice, seeing how each musical element appears in real compositions, in songs you already love and play. We work together with practical examples, dynamic exercises, and methods that stimulate both the mind and the ear.
Another key point is patience and clarity in explanations. I know many teachers rush through the material, but I believe teaching requires listening, care, and empathy. I want each question to be answered attentively and for you to feel comfortable asking as many questions as necessary.
Learning music theory with me opens the door to reading sheet music with confidence, understanding composers' styles, improvising freely, and even composing your own songs. My commitment is to transform what seems complicated today into something natural that will become part of your way of thinking and experiencing music.
If you want to evolve as a musician, play with greater confidence, understand the meaning behind each melody, and, above all, enjoy studying music, I'll be by your side on this journey. Together, let's transform theory into practice, knowledge into freedom, and music into true expression.
