About Anastasia

Hi! Ich heiße Anastasia und ich komme aus Deutschland!
I am fluent in German, English, and Russian, and I am currently teaching myself Italian and Icelandic.
This year I graduated from Goldsmiths University with a 1st in BA English Literature and Linguistics. During this time I was also giving German lessons to my friends, and tutoring English and German for GCSEs, A-Levels, and the International Baccalaureate.

About the lesson

I’m happy to teach anyone, regardless of level and age, as long as you are motivated and willing to learn. My approach and methodology differs based on your goals and expectations for the lessons. For example, if I am tutoring you for your English A-Level with the goal of achieving a higher grade, we will focus on the syllabus and materials you have been given in school. However, if you want to learn German from scratch for your own benefit and enjoyment, I have a more relaxed and conversational approach. I teach languages by integrating vocabulary and grammar lessons into naturally occurring conversation and written media- I found this is the best way to learn a language. At the end of the day, the goal is to be able to hold a conversation rather than recite a textbook. However, I do use some exercise books in my lessons, and if you have a textbook or exercise book for example from school, we will definitely make use of that as well.
I do also like integrating your personal interests; for example, if you are a big Harry Potter fan, let’s spend a little bit of time discussing the books and movies, but in German of course! (This is also how I learned English- by reading Harry Potter!)

I offer lesson in 45 minute blocks, so if you’ve only got a little bit of time we can just do 45 minutes, or if you’ve got an exam coming up, or a bit more time and will, we can do two blocks of 45 minutes with a five minute break in between.
