About Catherine
Hi there! My name is Catherine, and I'm a neuro-inclusive violin tutor with more than 25 years' experience learning, performing, and teaching the violin to beginner and intermediate players aged 16+. I hold a Diploma in Violin Performance through ABRSM, and a BA (Hons) in Music from the University of Bristol.
I continue to perform regularly with my instrument, and am privileged to have played in venues including Union Chapel, Cadogan Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall. Whilst I continue to enjoy performing, it's my work supporting people to discover their creative and expressive potential that I take pride in. The moment you get to witness someone realise they just did something they didn't think they could do? That's magic!

As a tutor, I take pride in being guided by the unique goals of my students, whether that's: to try something new as a complete beginner; to learn a specific piece of music with feedback and support; to explore improvisation; to focus on developing a particular skill, such as intonation; or to enjoy an open-ended process of learning to play the violin.
As well as lesson content being guided by the unique goals of my students, my approach to teaching is centred on the experience of the person being taught. Lesson goal(s), length, frequency, location, and access needs are discussed upfront, and reviewed as often as needed.

Details
Lessons are typically 45 minutes' long. Rates are as follows:
30 mins in person: £20
45 mins in person: £30
1 hr in person: £40
30 mins online: £15
45 mins online: £22.50
1 hr online: £30
Lessons cancelled within 24hrs of taking place are charged at 50%.
For lessons requiring travel, a nominal fee of £8 applies to cover travel expenses. This will not be charged in the event of cancellation.
