About Meera
I bring a unique blend of academic, professional, and coaching experience to my tutoring. I was a competitive debater throughout high school and college, honing my ability to think critically, communicate persuasively, and craft compelling narratives. Professionally, I worked as a consultant in the corporate world, where I developed strong interpersonal and communication skills through collaborating with diverse clients and solving complex problems. In addition, I have over six years of experience as a debate coach, working with students ages 12–18. This role has taught me how to adapt my teaching style to meet different learning needs, keep students engaged, and help them grow in confidence. I combine structured guidance with a supportive, approachable style, ensuring students feel both challenged and encouraged as they work toward their goals.

My approach to tutoring college essays is highly personalized. I spend time understanding each student’s motivations, short- and long-term goals, and intended schools in order to effectively guide their writing. From there, I help them develop their authentic voice and ensure their essays reflect who they are, not just what they’ve done.
A typical session involves engaging in thoughtful discourse about the student’s experiences and how they want others, particularly admissions committees, to understand their story. We then work on translating those ideas into compelling narratives with strong structure, clarity, and flow. I close each session with targeted feedback and a clear roadmap for revisions.
What sets me apart is that I have successfully written my own undergraduate and graduate admissions essays, so I understand both the creative and strategic elements of the process. My lessons are ideal for high school and college applicants preparing personal statements and supplemental essays.
