About Max
Hello, I'm Max, a recent graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where I specialised in composition. I now work as a church organist, having played across Hertfordshire and London. I have a great deal of experience in composition, with works in many styles and for a broad range of ensembles, from solo piano to full symphony orchestra, everything having been workshopped or performed publicly. I've got a wide range of diverse musical abilities and achievements, among them my experience as a chorister in Manchester for four years, and ABRSM Grades 8 in piano and 7 in violin. My broad musical training and experience makes me well equipped to tackle whatever theory or composition challenge you may run into.

I offer a flexible teaching schedule and method, whether you would like regular lessons in the run-up to an exam, or a one-off consultation to tackle a particular issue. While I am now very knowledgeable in all aspects of music theory, having studied composition full time for 4 years, I am not someone to whom music theory always came easily which means I have an insight in navigating its learning challenges. Lessons typically would last one hour, but this is open to discussion. Let me know in the run-up to the lesson what you would like to work on, so that you get the best use of your time in the lesson. I'm comfortable to teach from ages 10+, and have experience working with young people before I attended university.
