About Lucía

I have been playing the saxophone since 2013 and began my formal musical training at the Purcell School of Music in 2016. During my time at Purcell, I studied both classical and jazz saxophone alongside clarinet, flute, and piano, and performed regularly in chamber ensembles including a saxophone quartet and a saxophone–clarinet duo. In 2021, I began my Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree in classical saxophone, while continuing to study jazz saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Alongside performance, teaching has always been a central part of my musical life. I began teaching with the National Youth Concert Band in 2022 and have remained actively involved in music education ever since. I have a passion for inspiring and encouraging musicians to reach their goals no matter what they are and be able to use music as a positive creative outlet. I am a registered teacher on the RCM Teaching Service and achieved a First Class mark in the RCM Level 6 Vocal and Instrumental Teaching module. I am currently studying for a Master’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

About the lesson

As a 1:1 teacher, I take the time to get to know each student and understand which teaching styles suit them best. I encourage learning on a strong foundation of good technique, while ensuring that music theory develops alongside practical playing. My goal is for every student to feel they have a safe and supportive outlet to be creative and explore a wide range of genres, through both listening and playing. I strive to create a positive learning environment, set realistic goals for the future, and help students build confidence in their musical ability.
