About Charlotte
Ms. Merz made her Sydney Opera House debut in 2015 as a featured soloist in Bernstein's Mass. Additional performance credits in Australia include the Countess of Desmond (English Eccentrics), Jo March* (Little Women) and Giraffier (Les Deux Aveugles). Charlotte has performed in concert with the Sydney Philharmonia, Penrith Symphony Orchestra, and Sydney Collegium Musicum Choir and Orchestra. In 2016 Ms. Merz was named a Young Artist with Pacific Opera, Sydney. In the United States, Charlotte has performed the roles of Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte), Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw), Violet (A Childhood Miracle), Zweiter Knabe (Die Zauberflöte), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Sesto (La Clemenza di Tito), Angelina (La Cenerentola) and Mercedes (Carmen). Upon graduation from the Manhattan School of Music Charlotte was accepted as a Young Artist with Sarasota Opera, Florida. Additionally, she has appeared as a Festival Artist with Chautauqua Opera Company and was named as an Emerging Artist with Bel Canto, Tuscany. Ms. Merz is the recipient of a number of awards and grants including the Helpmann Family Fellowship, Australian Elizabeth Theatre Trust, Clare Martin Bequest, Albert Scholarship for Music and the Performer's Trust Foundation.
