About Matthew

Hi! I’m an experienced tutor and an incoming medical student at St George’s University of London, with a Psychology degree from Durham University. Having scored 72 in the GAMSAT and 3020 in the UCAT, I understand the challenges of medical entrance exams and know what it takes to succeed.
Whether you’re just starting out or aiming for a top score, I’ll work with you to develop effective study techniques, time management skills for the pressured exams, and strategies that will build confidence and efficiency.

With a strong academic background in psychology and achieving all 4 offers to enter medical school I am well placed to make your medical application as strong as possible, whether you need help with admissions tests or interview technique.

About the lesson

Lessons with me will of course be tailored to what the student sets out to achieve overall from tutoring. However, I generally take an approach based on an initial discussion, to structure lesson plans to achieve the goals that the student wants. I am happy to have lesson lengths from 30 minutes to 2 hours but generally recommend one hour to cover a suitable amount of material without being overwhelmed.

I have previously tutored many students either at school or university to help them score highly on the UCAT and GAMSAT, with consistently good results. Additionally, some students prefer advice and lessons on MMI interviews for medical school, all of which who took this have received offers afterwards. I also have taught Psychology at degree level, as well as IB Higher Level Psychology and Biology in the past.

I was really struggling with the technique and grasping how to start with GAMSAT revision, and Matthew was always very attentive and made sure to fully understand what I was struggling with and what my concerns were. Matthew has been fantastic at helping me prep for my upcoming GAMSAT exam, going through in detail what is required in each section and the best tips to score well. This has significantly improved the scores I am getting, especially in Section 2 and 3 where my scores have jumped up by over 10 points in tests and past papers.
