About Alex

Who I Am and Why I Want to Tutor

I am a passionate coach and educator with a genuine commitment to helping people achieve their potential. Throughout my career in the NHS, public health and service delivery, I have supported individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to build confidence, develop new skills and overcome challenges. These experiences have shown me that everyone learns differently, and I enjoy adapting my approach to meet each person’s individual needs.

I want to become an online tutor because I find it rewarding to help others understand new concepts and achieve their goals. Whether supporting someone through academic challenges or helping them build confidence in a subject, I believe that learning should be engaging, encouraging and tailored to the individual.

My academic background, combined with extensive experience delivering one-to-one coaching, group workshops and evidence-based learning programmes, has given me the skills to communicate clearly, explain complex ideas in an accessible way and motivate learners to succeed. I am patient, approachable and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel supported to ask questions, develop their understanding and reach their full potential.

For me, tutoring is about more than improving grades—it’s about building confidence, fostering curiosity and helping learners develop the skills they need to succeed both academically and beyond.

About the lesson

My academic background has equipped me with strong research, analytical and communication skills, enabling me to explain complex concepts in a clear, engaging and accessible way. I hold a Master of Research (MRes) in Sport & Exercise and a BSc (Hons) in Sport Coaching & Development, where I developed expertise in critical analysis, evidence-based practice, academic writing and data interpretation.

I am confident in breaking down challenging topics into manageable steps, adapting explanations to different learning styles and encouraging independent thinking. Through both my academic studies and professional experience, I have developed excellent problem-solving, organisation and time management skills, alongside the ability to provide constructive feedback that supports learners’ progress and confidence.

My approach combines academic rigour with patience, empathy and personalised support, helping students build both subject knowledge and the confidence to achieve their goals.
