About Joshua
I’ve always been a music-lover, growing up with my mother as a musician and being surrounded by music my whole life. I play a lot of classical music but I listen to many genres including pop, funk, soul,jazz, jazz-fusion and many others! I also love science, I have done an undergraduate degree in Physics which means I approach teaching and cello playing from an analytical point of view. I believe the best path to becoming a successful musician relies on a full understanding of how your instrument works!

My lessons will usually begin with a short chat about what the student is working on and how they feel about the pieces that they’re playing. I will then continue with some technical exercises to ensure a solid technical foundation is being built with the long-term goal of injury-free practice. In the second half of the lesson we will look at pieces from a musical point of view, focusing on achieving the sound and curating a convincing performance of the student’s musicality!
