About Allan
I graduated from the Master in Financial Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and I have several experiences in Assistantship and Private Lessons in the following subjects:
- Statistics / Probability
- Econometrics
- Macro / Micro-economics
Beyond my simple qualifications, what is essential for me is the capacity of a teacher to vulgarize, at first, complicated concepts in order to provide an intuition to the student, before diving rigorously into mathematical modeling.

One of the craziest things in the world of graduate studies is that as the subjects get more complex, professors are less and less teachers. Most of them are much more concerned with their research than with ensuring that their knowledge is best transmitted to their students. The lack of pedagogy in academia is particularly astounding. I quickly realized this during my studies, and I made the decision not to go to classes, but to learn on my own, diligently. It is certainly not the most enviable method, but it is the one that has proven to be the most profitable for me. However, I had to make huge sacrifices, because I always wanted to understand the true meaning of the subjects I studied in depth. It paid off because I was able to obtain more than satisfactory grades during my university studies, and it earned me to be a course assistant during my bachelor and master. My whole teaching methodology is based on extremely diligent pedagogy: I fully understand the student's difficulties because I have experienced them myself. Before delving into mathematical models, I make sure to provide my students with an intuition of the concepts. In my opinion, this is fundamental for a real understanding and acquisition of the most complex notions in the long term.
