About Mattey

Mattey graduated with a BA in Dance Pedagogy from one of the top five collegiate ballet programs in America, Butler University’s Ballet Program. She has performed in many ballets such as Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, and the Flower Festival in Genzano. Mattey has also invested her resources in Pilates Training, and NASM Personal Training to enrich her approach and expertise in dance coaching. She has also studied psychology, nutrition, and human development in her professional schooling which further equips her to cater to your specific needs and goals as a dancer wherever you are in your movement journey.

About the lesson

Mattey’s training method begins with a one-on-one meeting where you will have the opportunity to share what brought you to dance, why you want to improve, and what specific goals and needs you want to meet for yourself. Mattey is a kind, adaptive, and truly sensitive teacher who trains her students from the inside out in order for them to reach their fullest artistic potential. Mattey will train her students from a fusion of classical ballet foundations and contemporary concepts in order to achieve optimal body-mind-muscle awareness and application in the dance environment. A typical lesson begins with a 15-minute conditioning session, followed by a targeted ballet warm-up where Mattey breaks down exercises that are challenging for the student, then the lesson will conclude with a combination that embodies the area of focus in a fun, joyful way. Mattey believes that true artistry and improvement is best achieved when both student and teacher collaborate from a holistic approach to dance. Dance is something we want to improve in, but also something we may find healing in if we allow ourselves to open up and cater to our innate body knowledge already present, even in ballet! Mattey’s coaching sessions are a perfect fit for children, adult beginners, or teens who want extra support in their weekly training schedules.
