About Nick
I have a 1st class Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Durham and my background is in translation. Translation is all about communicating effectively, which helped me a lot for the GAMSAT and the GEM interview. I managed to get a competitive GAMSAT score and an interview score that was well above the threshold to secure a place on GEM at the University of Liverpool. I know just how daunting the whole process can be, especially if you come from a non-science background like myself. I'm here to guide you from start to finish, from creating a roadmap and making your application stand out to preparing for the GAMSAT and smashing your interview.

Embarking upon the process to secure a place on Graduate Entry Medicine can be extremely daunting. It's often difficult to know where to begin – with volunteering in a care setting, shadowing doctors and preparing for the GAMSAT (often on top of a full-time job). Then comes knowing how to apply strategically to universities, effectively preparing for interviews (MMIs) and finally navigating funding. I think this can be especially daunting for those of us who are more mature students and without a science background. I can guide you through the entire process from start to finish. We'll begin with a roadmap to maximise your chances of securing a place (you absolutely need to begin doing things that will make you stand out well before the application deadline). I'll give you tips on how I managed to secure a position volunteering in a busy A&E department, as well as shadowing in one of the country's busiest neurosurgical departments as well as at an in-patient psychiatric unit (all on my own initiative - I didn't have any contacts to help me). I can also help you prepare for GAMSAT sections 1 and 2 (my first degree is in Modern Languages and linguistics, which helped immensely). I'll then help you maximise your score at interview by going through strategies that allowed me to get a score at my MMI that was well above the threshold to be awarded a place on GEM at the University of Liverpool. And once you've been awarded a place, you're always more than welcome to message me if you need help understanding how GEM is funded (another minefield).
