About Leonardo

My name is Leonardo, I am 36 years old and I live, study and work in Rome. I approached music from an early age driven by great passion, curiosity and predisposition. I continued my musical training both as self-taught and by taking individual and group lessons, privately and at music schools. I have thus reached a good level of musical preparation in different styles (instruments, percussion, electric bass, clarinet, guitar, handpan) and first of all piano, the instrument I approached first and I have deepened the most over time, fascinated by its potential and from its timbres. To perfect myself and direct myself towards musical and piano professionalism (specifically in the jazz field), since 2017 I have been following the AFAM academic path first at the Siena Jazz music academy, and then at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, which I am currently attending in my secondlast year. I have experience of performances in different musical styles at clubs and theaters, and I am currently active musically with different formations

About the lesson

My teaching method is strongly adapted to the needs and peculiarities of the individual student and consequently the content and approach of the lessons and the work at home performed by the student are adapted.
My attention is focused on giving stimuli to my students so that they can believe more and more in themselves and in improving their skills, strengthening them with practice at home, while gradually acquiring new and more advanced ones. Always safeguarding the creative, expressive and playful side of making music, essential to keep interest alive and facilitate learning.

Specifically, my lessons include:

- basic familiarity with the instrument
- posture of the body and arms
- setting of the hands (arms, wrists, fingers)
- visual and imitative approach
- basic piano technique (touch and movement, legato and staccato , thumb passage, scales and chords, fingering, pedal use, basic coordination between left and right hands)
- reading and solfeggio (always and only in order to become familiar with the music and the piece)
- understanding of harmony, from the basic one to the most advanced and modern one and consequent application to the instrument
- use of the voice and body to facilitate learning and coordination
- body relaxation care
- advancement of the piano technique through the use of written methods (Hannon, Czerny, Douvernoy etc) and simple pieces
- approach to piano repertoire of different style and level agreed or proposed by the student. From the greats of classical music (Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy etc) to Einaudi, contemporary pop songs, film music, Jazz standards etc.
- composition and improvisation at the piano (for students who already master basic technique and harmony)

Graduating from the Saint Louis Music Academy in Rome, I offer myself for private piano lessons, for all levels and ages.
I have many years of teaching and performance experience in various musical formations at clubs and theaters in Rome in different musical styles, from classical to jazz to pop
