About Ashmita
With over 15 years of experience as a performer and 13 years as a teacher & choreographer, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in the world of music and dance. I am a graded artist of Doordarshan and a recipient of the Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship. Coming from a 300-year-old musical lineage in Varanasi, which includes revered artists such as Sangeet Nayak Pt. Dargahi Mishra, Khalifa Pt. Bikku Maharaj, Tabla Shiromani Pt. Gama Maharaj, and Pt. Vijayshanker Mishra, I have been fortunate to gain a deep appreciation for these art forms. It has been my honor to perform across the nation and to work with esteemed institutions such as IIT Hyderabad, Sahitya Kala Parishad (Govt. of NCT, Delhi), Kendriya Vidyalaya, and GD Goenka as a teacher, choreographer, and judge. I also had the privilege of serving as President of Malang, the Indian Dance Society at Amity University, where I specialized in various folk and classical dance forms. Academically, I hold a postgraduate degree in Kathak from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya and a graduate degree from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. Additionally, I have completed a Diploma (Hons) from the National Institute of Kathak (Kathak Kendra), a Diploma from Sriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra (Mandi House), third year in Hindustani Vocal, and second year in Tabla.
