About Erin
I love English Literature! While I have pursued a degree in Law, English Literature has always had a special place in my heart throughout secondary school and college. I achieved an A in A-level English Literature and an 8 at GCSE, and I’m now studying Law at university.
At just 18, I have only recently been in the exact position my students are in now. I sat my A-level English Literature exams very recently, so my experience of revision, exam preparation and sitting the papers is still fresh. I know first-hand the pressure of preparing for exams, the frustration of studying texts that don’t always interest you, and the challenge of turning everything you know into a strong exam answer.
I hope this makes me a relatable and approachable tutor for students. I remember what it felt like to be on the other side of the desk, and I want to use that recent experience to help students feel more confident and less overwhelmed by English Literature.
A huge part of my philosophy is helping students actually enjoy the subject. I know English Literature can feel dull at times — especially at GCSE, when you have no choice but to study it! I want to bring some enthusiasm and personality to my lessons and show students that Literature can be genuinely interesting when you have the opportunity to explore your own ideas.
Although I’m now studying Law, my degree has allowed me to continue developing many of the skills I enjoyed using in English Literature, particularly analysing evidence, constructing arguments and expressing ideas clearly and persuasively. I hope to help students not only improve academically, but also become more confident in their own abilities.

My lessons are friendly, relaxed and completely tailored to each student. I want English Literature to feel much less overwhelming, so I focus on making difficult texts and essay questions feel manageable - and, hopefully, a lot more enjoyable!
A big part of my lessons is essay planning. I love helping students take their ideas and turn them into clear, well-structured arguments. We can work together on breaking down questions, choosing the strongest points, developing analysis and creating detailed essay plans before putting everything together into a confident, high-quality answer.
I also adapt my lessons depending on what each student needs. Whether you want to build confidence with a particular text, improve your analysis, practise exam questions or simply learn how to approach essays without staring at a blank page for 20 minutes, we'll focus on what will be most useful for you.
Having achieved an A in A-level English Literature and an 8 at GCSE, and now studying Law, I have a strong academic background in analysing texts, constructing arguments and writing persuasively. However, I know that strong essay writing isn't just about knowing the content — it's about knowing how to organise your ideas and communicate them effectively.
My aim is for every student to leave a lesson feeling more confident, with a clearer understanding of the subject and a plan for how to tackle their next essay!
