About Emily
Hello, my name is Emily, and I'm an incoming student at UCL, beginning my degree in September. I achieved top grades in English Literature, and have been tutoring during my gap year. Having only recently completed the UK exam system myself, I am particularly familiar with current GCSE and A-Level requirements and understand the pressures students face.
I aim to make English feel clear, engaging, and accessible for learners at every stage.

I offer a structured approach to learning, creating custom tutoring plans for each student based on their current level, goals, and learning style. My priority is always fostering an environment in which students feel entirely confident in asking questions, free from the perceived judgement that a classroom atmosphere can sometimes create.
Lessons typically focus on building strong foundations (analysis skills, essay structure, vocabulary, and exam technique) while also helping students develop their own voice and critical thinking. I use a combination of guided discussion, targeted exercises, exam-style questions, and clear model examples to make expectations easy to understand.
I tutor a range of levels, including:
KS2 SATs – Reading and comprehension
KS3 – English Language and Literature support
KS4 – GCSE English Language and English Literature
KS5 – A-Level English Literature
I also offer English support for international learners, as well as Italian language support for English learners.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although shorter or longer sessions can be arranged depending on age and focus. I can also offer short-term intensive revision support before exams, as well as provide and mark additional practice work.
As my lessons are online, I can offer a flexible range of session times to fit students' needs. Please note that I operate a 12-hour cancellation policy after which cancellations are fully charged.
