About Isabelle

As a French tutor with several years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced learners, across various age groups and cultural backgrounds. I believe that effective language learning combines structure with creativity, and my approach reflects this balance. I begin by assessing each student's current abilities, learning preferences, and goals to create a tailored plan that suits their needs. My lessons emphasize foundational grammar and vocabulary, but always within the context of meaningful communication. I prioritize spoken French from the start, encouraging students to practice conversational skills through role-playing, interviews, and discussions about topics relevant to their interests and daily lives. To reinforce learning, I integrate listening exercises using authentic audio materials such as podcasts, music, and news clips. I also use writing prompts and reading selections to develop literacy and comprehension. One of my key strengths is breaking down complex grammar topics into manageable, digestible parts, using visual aids and clear examples. I complement traditional methods with multimedia resources like interactive apps, videos, and online games, which cater to diverse learning styles and keep lessons engaging. About the lesson

I believe language learning flourishes when students are actively engaged in using French in meaningful, practical situations rather than passively absorbing grammar rules. From day one, I encourage students to speak and listen extensively through interactive activities such as conversations, storytelling, and role-plays that simulate real-world interactions like ordering meals, asking for directions, or expressing preferences.

Grammar is introduced within these contexts to help students understand how structures function in natural communication, making it less abstract and more applicable. I tailor my teaching to suit each learner’s objectives and interests—whether they are studying for exams, preparing for travel, or pursuing personal enrichment—utilizing varied resources including music, games, videos, articles, and cultural explorations that make lessons engaging and relevant.

Immersing students in francophone culture is an essential element, achieved by integrating authentic materials such as films, songs, and news to broaden understanding of the language’s cultural richness and diversity. A highlight of my teaching career was working with a student who had long struggled with French grammar; through patient explanation and creative practice techniques, they gained clarity and succeeded in passing a language proficiency test that expanded their academic horizons.
