About Nico

12 years ago I started using Blender to make small video game prototypes. Today I am a 3D artist, have been teaching classes for two years, and can share a little of what fascinates me about the world of CGI and free software with people from elementary school children all the way to professional programmers.
I believe in teaching a mix of: theory to be able understand what the computer is doing in the background; and practice to get our hands dirty from the beginning, since the true and best way to move forward is by practicing and doing.

About the lesson

In the classes we will learn the theoretical side, how the computer generates images that we understand as 3D; and the practical side, how to take advantage of that knowledge to generate the image we want.
We will learn to
* Create and modify objects using different techniques, and differentiate when to use each technique,
* Give our models all the properties that a material requires to create the image we want. Give them color, texture, shinyness, etc.
* Create complex scenes with many objects,
* Generate beautiful images by rendering our scenes and saving it on our computer on efficient formats.

And more things depending on the tastes you have or that you develop throughout of the lessons! Examples are

* Animation
* Video editing
* Mathematical generation of materials and models
* Optimization of models for video games
* Working in a Non-Destructive way.
* Building our own library of models and materials.
* Including physical simulations in our projects. Eg liquids, gases, fire, breaking objects, fabrics, and hair.

We are going to talk about Blender, what it means for it to be free software, and how we can benefit from that to make working with it easier .

Nico y yo somos amigos desde hace ya unos años. Una persona con mucha dedicación y compromiso. Ya fuera en un trabajo grupal o a la hora de pedir ayuda con un tema que no entendía, siempre fue una persona que podías confiar que tenia la respuesta y la forma de transmitirla.
Nico fue muy importante para sumergirme en el mundo del modelado 3D. El fue el que me dio el empujón y el que me enseño las bases que me hacen hoy.
Después de dos años de esas clases, puedo decir que Nico es mas rápido que Google. Siempre es la primera persona a la cual le pregunto si tengo una duda respecto a Blender o programas relacionados y siempre da en el clavo. Ya sea respecto a una función que no sabia o incluso errores del programa en ese patch.
Muy recomendado.
