About Ekin
I’m a graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, where I studied Popular Music, and a highly experienced guitarist with over 8 years of teaching and performance experience. Alongside working as a professional musician, I’ve taught extensively both privately and through Rocksteady Music School, working with students from a young age through to adults. This breadth of experience has helped me develop a flexible, student-focused approach. I tailor each lesson to the individual—whether you want to build strong foundations, improve your technique, learn songs you enjoy, or develop your overall musicianship. My teaching is practical, musical, and engaging. I focus on helping you understand what you’re playing, not just copy it, so you can progress with confidence and independence. Lessons can include chords, rhythm playing, lead guitar, improvisation, songwriting, and more, depending on your goals. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to improve each week.

Lessons are fully tailored to you—your goals, your musical taste, and your current level. Whether you want to learn specific songs, improve your technique, build confidence, or develop a deeper understanding of music, each lesson is structured to help you make clear, consistent progress. I take a structured but flexible approach to teaching. This means you’ll always have a clear direction and sense of progression, while still keeping lessons engaging and relevant to what you actually want to play. I place a strong emphasis on learning through real music, so rather than relying purely on exercises, we apply everything directly to songs and practical playing situations. A typical lesson might include a combination of technique, song work, and musical understanding. Depending on your goals, we can cover chords and rhythm playing, lead guitar, improvisation, ear training, songwriting, and overall musicianship. I also guide you on how to practise effectively between lessons, so you’re not just playing more, but improving in the right way. I teach both acoustic and electric guitar across a range of styles, and I’m always happy to adapt lessons to suit your interests. Whether you prefer a more structured path or a relaxed, exploratory approach, I adjust my teaching style to suit how you learn best. With over 8 years of experience teaching students from a young age through to adults—including my work in schools and private teaching—I’ve developed a strong understanding of how to explain concepts clearly, keep lessons engaging, and support steady progress without things feeling overwhelming. Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, supportive, and focused learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing as a musician. The goal is not just to get you playing, but to help you become a confident, independent guitarist who genuinely enjoys the process of learning and improving.
