About Pulki
I am Prof. Pulki Mittal, a Gold Medalist in Economics from Delhi University with an MA in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK.
I have over 20 years of teaching experience and have taught Economics at Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and academic institutions in the UK.
Over the years, I have taught students at both school and university level, giving me the opportunity to work across different curricula, academic systems and levels of Economics.
I currently teach IB Diploma Economics HL & SL, AP Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, as well as university-level Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, International Finance, Econometrics and Data Analysis. I also teach the application of Python and Stata in Economics.
I have worked with students from leading international schools and with university students studying at institutions including UCLA, NYU, University of Toronto, HKU and NUS.
What I enjoy most about teaching Economics is helping students move from “I know the theory” to “I understand why this happens.”
After more than two decades of teaching, I still believe that no two students learn in exactly the same way. My role as an educator is therefore not simply to deliver content, but to understand the student, identify what is holding them back, and help them develop clarity and confidence in the subject.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I teach the student, not the textbook.
I believe Economics becomes much easier when students understand the reasoning behind a concept rather than simply memorizing definitions, diagrams or answers.
My lessons are personalized according to the student’s level, curriculum and academic goals. I begin by identifying the student’s current understanding and any conceptual gaps, and then build the topic step by step using explanations, diagrams, examples and real-world applications.
A typical class combines:
• Clear explanation of key concepts
• Diagrams and economic reasoning
• Real-world applications
• Practice questions and problem-solving
• Structured analytical writing where required
• Exam technique and strategy
For quantitative subjects such as Econometrics and Data Analysis, I focus on helping students understand both the intuition behind the methods and their practical application.
One of my strengths as a teacher is adapting my approach to the individual student. Some students need stronger foundations, while others understand the theory but need help with application, analysis or exam technique.
My aim is to develop independent thinkers who can approach unfamiliar Economics questions with confidence rather than relying on memorized answers.
My classes are intended for:
• IB Diploma Economics HL & SL students
• AP Microeconomics & Macroeconomics students
• Undergraduate and university-level Economics students
• Students studying Econometrics and Data Analysis
• Students learning Python or Stata for Economics
Classes are conducted online and are suitable for students studying in India and internationally.
