About Zoraiz
About Me My name is Zoraiz Khalid, and I professionally specialise in architecture and design. I have recently completed a year-long internship as a Global Retail Design Architect Intern at Coty Inc. in Geneva, Switzerland, where I contributed to the development of experiential retail environments for international luxury brands within the Global Travel Retail division. My work and contributions on the behalf of Coty Inc. can be found in an array of continents, countries and cities- and of course, their airports’ duty free stores :) I hold a First-Class Honours BA in Architecture from the University of Sheffield, where my academic work examined the dialogue between architecture, narrative, and cultural context. This background, supported by a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, design technology, art, and English, enables me to approach design education with a multidisciplinary perspective that balances creativity with technical precision. Why I Teach I teach because I believe in the transformative power of design thinking and the importance of equipping students with both analytical and creative skills. My experience in professional practice has shown me how essential it is to unite technical understanding with conceptual clarity- skills that begin developing early through subjects such as mathematics, physics, and art. I specialise in teaching mathematics, physics, design technology, art, and English up to GCSE level, and architecture up to undergraduate level. Across these subjects, I aim to cultivate intellectual curiosity, critical reasoning, and confidence in problem-solving. My teaching approach encourages students to think spatially and conceptually, to question conventions, and to express their ideas through both visual and written means. Ultimately, I aim to guide students in developing the tools to design thoughtfully- with accuracy, purpose, and imagination- preparing them to contribute meaningfully to both academia and professional practice.

My Tutoring Approach As a multi-disciplinary tutor with a background in architecture, I bring both creative and analytical thinking into every lesson I teach. My goal is to make learning clear, engaging, and tailored to the needs of each individual student. Whether we’re exploring mathematical formulae, refining a portfolio, or analysing a poem, I adapt my teaching to support progress, confidence, and curiosity. Teaching Methodology & Techniques My teaching approach is student-centred, adaptable, and focused on long-term understanding rather than rote memorisation. I use a combination of methods depending on the subject and learner: •Structured Lessons with Clear Objectives: Each session is planned around a specific topic or skill, with learning goals tailored to the student’s curriculum and pace. •Visual & Hands-On Learning: Particularly in architecture, design, physics, and art, I integrate sketches, diagrams, real-world examples, and software demonstrations to bring concepts to life. •Socratic Questioning & Guided Discovery: I encourage students to think critically by asking open-ended questions and guiding them to discover answers themselves. •Exam & Coursework Strategy: I support students in building effective exam techniques, time management, and strong coursework portfolios (especially for Art, DT, and Architecture). •Feedback-Driven Improvement: I provide constructive, actionable feedback to help students reflect and grow after each session. ️ Lesson Length & Format •Standard Lessons: 60 minutes (ideal for most topics and regular progress) •Extended Sessions: 90 minutes (great for project-based subjects like architecture, art, or DT) •Mini Sessions: 30–45 minutes (available for revision check-ins or specific queries) Lessons can be delivered online or in-person (if local), and are tailored for individuals or small groups. My Background & Experience •I specialise in architecture tutoring at undergraduate level, supporting students with: • Conceptual design development • Portfolio creation & presentation • Model-making and sketching • Software use (CAD, Adobe Suite, etc.) • Technical drawing and architectural theory •I’ve worked with GCSE students across multiple subjects, helping them: • Prepare for exams with confidence • Develop structured revision habits • Strengthen subject understanding from the ground up My multidisciplinary background allows me to make cross-subject connections- for example, blending design thinking with mathematical logic, or applying physics principles to architectural structures- which often makes learning more meaningful and memorable.
