About Gillian

- What kind of experience do you have?

I qualified as a teacher in 1975, so bring a great deal of experience both in the primary and secondary sector. I have been a tutor since 2008 and believe that every child can achieve their very best, building confidence is always important. I hear the sentence 'I'm rubbish at...' all too often. One to one tutoring changes that sentence to 'I love...'. All my students succeed but please remember we need time and consistency. I have students who came for a few weeks and are still coming after a year! They genuinely enjoy the experience.

About the lesson

Welcome to my tutor page. With years of experience behind me, I can offer thorough tuition in the basics of English and Mathematics. These are areas where your child may have not understood or missed a topic. For example: times tables, grammar rules.

I teach English Language, English Literature and Drama and Maths.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Certificate Of Education, BA (Hons) English Literature, (ongoing) Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics

- How much do you charge?

I offer reduced prices for families of more than one student. I charge extra fees for travelling.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at home in Tiverton, Devon. I am able to travel in Tiverton and to Exeter. My nearest station is Tiverton Parkway.

- When are you available?

I am available Monday to Friday between 2 and 8, and on Saturdays. I am available for school holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach KS1-4 and A Level.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I have prepared students for: GCSE, A-level English, Common Entrance for Blundells School, SATS, job interviews.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I have Skype.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I am a friendly and approachable teacher and love to inspire my students. Tutoring with me is not like school and is quite informal. All of my students have enjoyed their studies with me.
