About Martin
I began my studies at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen with Professor Edmund Illerhaus, graduating in 1996 with honors. I was a fellow of the Salzburg Summer Academy and the Richard Wagner Foundation. I also attended master classes with Rina del Monaco, Galina Vischnevskaya, Josef Metternich and Carlo Bergonzi.
My singing career, on the other hand, I began in the last three years of study - first at the Bonn Opera, then at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, at the Schwerin State Theater and then at the Leipzig Opera. I sang the great baritone roles including Valentin, Tsar Pietro, Consul Sharpless, Count Almaviva, Gugliemo, Don Giovanni, Count di Luna, Amonasro, Iago and Wolfram, to name but a few.
In addition to my intense theater career, I have sung almost all major oratorios, many concerts and recitals.
My work has led me to collaborate with the symphony orchestras of Berlin, Bochum, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hamburg and with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, under the conductors Hans Wallat, Peter Gülke, Silvio Varviso, Fabio Luisi, Eugene Kohn, Claude Schnitzler, Frédéric Chaslin, Mario Venzago and conductors such as Kurt Horres, Giancarlo del Monaco, Werner Saladin and Robert Carson.

Since 2001 I have been working as a lyric and modern singing teacher, voice therapist and voice trainer. My experiences have led me to develop my own teaching method based on the classical and traditional style.
Besides the vocal technique I dedicate a lot of attention to the stylistic nuances of the works, to the style of the time and the composer, and to the interpretation.
I teach in Italian, English and German.
