About Lena

I am a law student at Macquarie University and work in the legal department for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation ("ABC"). I moved to Australia in January 2022 and I absolutely love my new-found life in sunny Sydney. I started tutoring back in high school, when I did an exchange semester and a HSC candidate from Sydney needed German tutoring lessons. So, we got together in classrooms to study and became life-long friends after he happily passed his HSC with outstanding grades. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, diving, pilates, yoga, cooking, and reading and, of course, nothing makes me happier than traveling the world, meeting new people, and engaging with new cultures along the way. I believe we have so much to learn from each other's languages, cultures, and values, which is why I love tutoring and helping my students understand German not just as a language but as a tool for cultural exchange.

About the lesson

- I employ communicative language teaching (CLT) methodology, focusing on real-life communication skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing
- I prefer to use a variety of materials and resources, including textbooks, authentic materials, multimedia, and interactive activities
- I structure my lessons to include a balanced combination of grammar instruction, vocabulary expansion, pronunciation practice, and conversational activities
- I love being flexible and adapting my lesson's to the individual student's needs
- I also enjoy incorporating cultural insights and context to deepen understanding and appreciation of the German language
- I offer flexible lesson lengths ranging from 1 to 2 hours
- I possess over 5 years of tutoring experience, with German being my native as well as tutor language
- In the past, I have provided lessons suitable for students of all levels and ages, having taught students preparing for the Australian HSC in German as well as those preparing for the Matura
