  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I speak German fluently because of my origins - I'm from Hamburg, Germany, and grew up there. It's my native language and an essential part of who I am.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical, or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One fictional character that really represents German-speaking culture is Heidi. Although she is Swiss-German, her story is deeply connected to the language and its cultural values, like a love for nature, family, and simplicity. ´´Heidi´´reflects a warmth and charm that's often overlooked in discussions about the German language.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

I love the word "genau" - it's short but incredibly versatile. You can use it to agree, confirm, or show understanding. It's a great example of how nuanced German can be.
In terms of behaviour, I really appreciate the German value of punctuality. It reflects respect for other people's time, something I also deeply value.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking German allows me to express myself in incredibly detailed and precise ways. I love how the language has such a rich vocabulary, with many subtle distinctions and multiple ways to say the same thing. It gives me the ability to explain, persuade, and connect on a deeper level.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language, and what can help the process of learning?

German is definitely not the easiest language to learn-grammar, cases, and long compound words can be intimidating. But with dedication, consistency, and believing in yourself, you can make amazing progress. And of course, with my tailored lessons, I make the process approachable and even fun. I always adapt to each student's pace and goals.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Back in school, I often helped my classmates with German grammar before exams. I enjoyed breaking things down in a way that made sense to them, and it came quite naturally to me. One day, a classmate jokingly said: ´´You explain this better than the teacher!´´- and although it was casual, it really stuck with me. That was one of the first moments I realised I might have a real talent for teaching. Looking back, I think that small comment planted the seed for my passion to help others learn German.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

During my language exchanges and time at international schools and universities, I often found myself surrounded by people who were learning or interested in German. These situations gave me the chance to teach them the basics, answer their questions, and explain cultural aspects. It helped me not only reinforce my own understanding but also sparked my passion for teaching.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof is my deep passion for languages, especially German, and my dedication to each student's individual journey. I have experience teaching people from all over the world thanks to my background in international schools and exchanges. I tailor every lesson to the student's needs, I'm patient, and I truly enjoy seeing their progress. There's nothing more rewarding than watching someone grow confident in speaking a new language.
