About Tomas
I’m a qualified and experienced humanities teacher specialising in History and RVE, with several years teaching KS3 and GCSE students in the UK. I’m known for being calm, kind, and positive in the classroom, and I bring the same supportive approach to tutoring. My priority is helping students feel comfortable, confident, and capable — especially those who may be anxious about exams or unsure where to start. I have a strong understanding of the WJEC GCSE specifications, including exam technique and assessment criteria, and I use this to guide students clearly through what they need to know and how to achieve higher marks. I break things down simply, give steady encouragement, and focus on building confidence as well as knowledge. Parents often tell me their children feel more relaxed and motivated after our sessions, and that my friendly, patient style makes a real difference. My aim is always to create a positive learning environment where students can improve at their own pace and feel proud of their progress.

My tutoring is clear, structured and exam-focused. I specialise in WJEC GCSE History and WJEC RVE, helping students improve knowledge, confidence and exam technique. I break topics down into simple, memorable steps and use real exam questions and marking schemes in every lesson so students learn exactly what examiners look for in each question on the exam. A typical lesson includes: quick knowledge retrieval practice clear explanation of key content and vocabulary sharing the marking scheme (what examiners are giving marks for) guided exam question practice personalised feedback and targets Lessons are usually 60 minutes, but I can also offer shorter focused sessions for revision or exam prep. I’m a qualified secondary school teacher with several years’ experience teaching History and RVE at KS3–KS4, plus additional experience marking and preparing students for WJEC exams. My lessons are suitable for Year 7–11 students, especially those preparing for GCSEs or wanting structured support, clearer explanations, and improved performances in mock exams.

Rates:
25 per 1 hour session.
5 hour course: £110 (save £15!) includes small study pack
10 hour course: £220 (save £30!) includes large study pack
Format
- Most lessons are delivered online via webcam. I can commit to use Zoom, MSTeams, or Google Classroom. If your require different software, please inform me in advance to access can be arranged.
- In person tutoring can be arranged in the South East Wales region, within a 10 mile radius of Newport. This would need to be arranged on a case by case basis.
Resources and Materials
I will provide and direct students to materials available online for free, such as from the WJEC. I also provide bespoke study guide/packs with long term courses.
Study Packs
Study packs can depend on the way you want to study.
If you pay lesson-by-lesson, I will use the study pack and share resources with you as you go along, specific to the questions and topics we have been working on.
If you have signed up to a course, for example a 6 hour block or a 12 hour block, you will recieve a free copy of the entire study pack to work with that is yours to keep.
If you are paying lesson-by-lesson and still want a study pack to keep, an electronic copy can be provided for £10, or a physical copy can be printed and posted to you for £15.
