About Louis

Prior to starting my career within education, I wanted to make sure that it was for me by taking up a role within a secondary school. Since then, I've not looked back and have various roles of responsibility including Head of Department, Head of Year & Assistant Head of Sixth Form. As previously stated, I have an excellent track record of achieving excellent results. Beyond teaching, I travel extensively, enjoy playing sport and spending time with family.

About the lesson

I have over 10 years' teaching experience having held numerous roles of responsibility. When it comes to subject expertise, I specialise in Physical Education and can teach both GCSE PE (AQA & Edexcel) & A-Level (AQA) PE. At GCSE PE, 73% of my pupils have achieved a grade 7-9, whilst 98% of pupils achieved a grade 5 or above. In terms of A-Level PE, 33% of pupils achieved an A*-A grade, with 100% of pupils achieving a C or above. It is worth noting that my expertise is within Skill Acquisition, Sports Psychology as well as technology in sport. I believe in students taking a proactive approach to their own learning and would ask that students provide the content they wish to cover. Furthermore, I believe in exam practice, and would look at exam practice, especially the long written responses. I also have extensive experience of teaching mathematics. Specifically, I teach those who feel less confident in and struggle in maths by providing real-world relevance and examples, so that students themselves can understand how key concepts are utilised. Furthermore, I believe in low-stakes quizzing, allowing students to develop their confidence when solving problems. This is specific to those students at KS3.
