About Kendall
Hi, I'm Kendall—a sophomore band student based in Dallas, TX, with over 5 years of clarinet experience under my belt. As someone who’s still deep in the world of school band (marching/concert), I'm also in the process of learning new advanced skills myself. Music has been my biggest passion for as long as I can remember. Whether it’s nailing those first notes, mastering scales, or prepping for auditions, I know exactly how tricky it can be—I still remember squeaking my way through beginner scales. What I love most about tutoring is helping new players avoid the frustrations I had early on. Ultimately, my goal is to make learning clarinet as fun and rewarding as it’s been for me.

As a current high school musician, I bridge the gap between student and teacher—I remember exactly what it’s like to be a beginner. My lessons focus on:
Foundations first: Proper embouchure, breath control, finger placement, and instrument care to prevent bad habits.
Band-ready skills: Scales, rhythm drills, and sight-reading tailored to school music requirements.
Confidence building: Encouraging, mistake-friendly environment with clear, step-by-step guidance.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up (5-10 min): Long tones, scales, or a short sightreading exercise.
Skill Focus (15-20 min): Work on a specific challenge (a tricky part of music/passage, dynamics, or articulation).
Apply to Music (10-15 min): Practice a school band piece or fun song to reinforce skills.
Wrap-up (5 min): Recap progress and assign practice goals.
What Sets Me Apart:
Relatable & patient: I’m close in age to my students, so I explain concepts in ways they understand.
Avoiding frustration: I break down tough techniques into manageable steps.
Personalized focus: I prepare students for auditions, band class, and performances—no pointless drills.
Who Are My Lessons For?
Ages/Grades: Kindergarten through 8th grade (beginner to intermediate).
