About Esther

With over 6 years of professional graphic design experience and 5+ years training students, the focus has now shifted to helping the next generation discover creativity early through technology.

The goal isn’t to turn every child into a professional designer. It’s to give them a simple tool to express themselves. There’s something powerful when a 7-year-old can design and print their own thank you card for a teacher or a sorry card for a friend instead of buying a generic one. That moment builds confidence, creativity, and communication skills all at once.

This is why Canva was chosen for kids aged 5-15. It’s visual, simple, and safe. Paired with child-friendly AI tools, it opens up a world where ideas can be turned into posters, cards, avatars, and short videos within minutes, even with no prior computer skills.

Every child has creative ideas, but not all have the tools to bring them to life. This class provides that tool in a safe, patient, and encouraging environment. Mistakes are part of the process, and every small creation is celebrated.

The hope is that after a few months, students don’t just know how to use Canva, they feel confident enough to create, share, and express themselves freely through design.

About the lesson

A fun, project-based creative class where children learn Canva by building real projects. The focus is on hands-on practice, not theory, so every session ends with something the student can proudly share.

What Students Will Learn
- Ages 5-8: Basic drag-and-drop design using Canva templates. Creating thank you cards, name posters, and simple stickers with shapes, colors, and text.
- Ages 9-12: Designing YouTube thumbnails and school project posters. Introduction to colors, fonts, and layout basics through guided activities.
- Ages 13-15: Photoshoot creation and short Video. Learning simple design principles like balance, contrast, and visual communication.

Class Structure
Each lesson starts with a 5-minute demo, followed by 30-40 minutes of guided practice, and ends with a 5-minute showcase where the student presents their work. A new mini-project is completed every 4 lessons to build a small portfolio.

Safety & Learning Environment
Only child-safe AI tools with strict content filters are used throughout the class. All activities are age-appropriate, and digital safety is taught from the first session. Parents receive a brief progress update after each lesson showing what was created.

Learning Outcomes
After 8 weeks, students will be able to create their own posters and cards using Canva. Beyond the software skill, students also develop creativity, problem-solving, and confidence in using technology for school and personal projects.
