About Ernie
My goal is to make students feel successful while meeting their personal goals. I like to create a professional yet comfortable environment with my students- I don't agree with the pushy or intimidating teaching model.
I also believe allowing students to make mistakes. Teachers are here FOR the mistakes- to help and lead students make less of them.

As a teacher, I focus on trumpet fundamentals- we make sure we can make the trumpet do what we want it to do WITH EASE so that the music we want to play can be less of a challenge.
Lessons will start with a skill check, depending on the level, to make sure the student feels and sounds good while playing. Then we'll work on repertoire: etudes, solos, excerpts, etc. Expectations for the next lesson will be clearly set towards the end of the lesson.
I like to meet students where they currently are in regards to skill level- no two students are the same even if they're in the same grade so they should each be approached in ways that will help them grow as individual trumpeters and musicians.
I teach all pre-college age students.
