About Sumayya
Hello! I am a Political Science graduate with a passion for teaching, exploring political ideas, and helping students discover the fascinating logic behind the world of politics.
My approach to teaching is shaped by my belief that no student should feel incapable of understanding a subject simply because it has been explained in a complicated way. Through my teaching experience at Nissa Artisans Tuition Academy, 1-1 tutoring of political science students and my work as a life-skills trainer with Girl Rising, I have learned the importance of understanding each learner's needs, personality, and individual way of learning. These experiences have taught me to adapt my explanations, make difficult concepts approachable, and create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
What makes my approach to Political Science different is my emphasis on understanding the "why" behind every theory, rather than memorising definitions and names. I enjoy exploring the questions that reveal how political thinkers understood human nature, power, authority, justice, and the state. I want my students not only to understand what a thinker argued, but also why they argued it and how their ideas relate to the political world we live in today.
Whether you are struggling with political theory, finding academic concepts difficult to understand, or hoping to develop stronger analytical and writing skills, I will work with you patiently and systematically. I value curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and the freedom to ask questions without feeling embarrassed.
My aim is to help you become a more confident, independent thinker who can understand political ideas, connect them to real-world situations, and express them clearly in your own words. I look forward to making Political Science a more understandable, engaging, and rewarding subject for you!

Have you ever read a political theory several times and still wondered what it actually means? Or found yourself memorising definitions, thinkers, and concepts without understanding how they connect? My goal is to change that experience.
My teaching approach:
I believe Political Science becomes fascinating when we stop treating it as a collection of complicated definitions and start exploring the ideas and real-world problems behind them. In my lessons, I break difficult concepts into manageable steps, explain unfamiliar terminology in simple language, and use relatable examples from everyday life, history, and contemporary politics to bring abstract theories to life.
Rather than asking you to memorise everything, I encourage you to question ideas, compare different perspectives, make connections, and develop your own understanding. Whether we are exploring Plato and Aristotle, discussing Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau, examining political ideologies, or studying comparative politics and political institutions, my aim is to help you understand the reasoning behind each concept, rather than simply memorising theories. For example, have you ever wondered why Thomas Hobbes named his famous book Leviathan after a biblical creature? Exploring this question opens the door to understanding his view of human nature, his belief in the need for a powerful sovereign, and his argument that strong political authority is essential to maintaining peace and preventing society from descending into chaos. This is how I approach Political Science. I turn seemingly small questions into opportunities to explore the deeper ideas behind political theories.
What a typical lesson looks like?
Lessons are interactive and adapted to your needs. We begin by identifying what you already understand and where you feel stuck. I then explain the topic step by step, using examples, questions, comparisons, and short discussions to check your understanding. Depending on your goals, we can also practise essay writing, structure exam answers, revise important concepts, and develop critical thinking skills.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although the duration can be adjusted to suit your needs. You are encouraged to ask questions freely, revisit difficult topics, and learn at a pace that works for you.
My qualifications and teaching experience
I have an academic background in Political Science and experience 1-1 tutoring Political science and Constitutional Law to BS students. My teaching experience has helped me appreciate the importance of adapting explanations to different learners and making challenging subjects more approachable. I have also worked as a life-skills trainer, an experience that strengthened my interest in communication, participation, and learner-centered education. Similarly, I have worked as a regenerative leadership trainer and a reporter and Host at Radio Pakistan. These experiences have taught me to recognise that every student has different needs, learning styles, and personality traits. I have learned to adapt my teaching approach to each learner, breaking down difficult concepts into simple, clear, and relatable explanations that make learning easier, more engaging, and more meaningful.
Who are my lessons for?
My lessons are designed primarily for university students studying Political Science or related subjects who want to build a stronger conceptual foundation, understand political thinkers and theories, improve their academic writing, or prepare for examinations. They are also suitable for students who find the subject overwhelming, struggle to connect theory with practice, or simply want to become more confident discussing political ideas.
You do not need to arrive with all the answers. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and even the topics you find most confusing. We will work through them together.
My goal is simple: to help you move from memorising Political Science to genuinely understanding it—and perhaps discovering that the subject you once found difficult can become one you truly enjoy.
