About Ben

I'm Ben Bamidele, a professional guitarist, composer, producer, band leader and music educator with more than 35 years of experience in music.

My career has included live performance, recording, arranging, music direction, studio work and music education.

I've worked across a wide range of musical environments, including Gospel, Jazz, Afro-Jazz, Blues and contemporary music.

My performance and professional journey has included platforms such as the Lagos International Jazz Festival and Runway Jazz Festival, and I've had the opportunity to share musical platforms and collaborate with respected musicians including Kirk Whalum and Najee.

I began my guitar journey as a young musician and have spent decades developing not only as a performer but also as an educator.

That experience has shaped the way I teach.

I don't believe a student should simply memorize shapes and repeat exercises.

I want students to understand the relationship between chords, rhythm, melody, harmony, scales and the fretboard.

My teaching is therefore practical, progressive and adapted to the individual student.

Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time or you're an experienced player looking for the next level, we'll identify where you are and create a practical path forward.

My goal as a teacher

To help you become a confident, independent and musical guitarist.

You don't need to be naturally gifted.

You need the right guidance, consistent practice and a willingness to learn.

Learn Guitar in a Way That Actually Makes Sense

Learning guitar shouldn't mean memorizing hundreds of chord shapes without understanding how they connect.

My lessons are designed to help you play real music while developing genuine musicianship.

YOUR FIRST LESSON

We begin by understanding where you are and where you want to go.

We'll discuss your goals, assess your current playing level and identify the skills that will make the biggest difference to your progress.

Then we'll start working on something practical.

You won't simply leave with information.

You'll leave with something to play, understand and practise.

A PRACTICAL APPROACH

I believe theory becomes much easier when you can hear and use it.

So instead of treating chords, scales, rhythm and theory as isolated subjects, we'll connect them to actual music.

For example:

Learn a chord progression → understand the key → identify the scale → apply it to a melody → improvise over it.

This approach helps you become more independent as a guitarist.

YOUR GOAL BECOMES OUR LEARNING PLAN

You don't have to learn guitar exactly the way everyone else does.

If you want to play your favorite songs, we'll use songs.

If you want to master rhythm, we'll focus on rhythm.

If you want to improvise, we'll develop your fretboard and improvisation skills.

If you want to explore jazz or Afro-Jazz, we'll build that vocabulary progressively.

The objective is simple:

Help you become a confident guitarist who understands what you're playing.
