About Martin
First of all I am approachable, informal and respectful. I am passionate about teaching and economics and have taught economics for over 30 years. I totally get it can appear an abstract and challenging subject and pride myself at empowering students to become confident in not only successfully passing exams, but genuinely understanding the subject. I have written extensively in the area of economics including textbooks and on line material for the Open University and have taught many A Level students on a one to one basis to achieve their targets. My approach is totally open and transparent and building up a good working relationship is key. I am also very patient - learning economics takes a bit of times sometimes, but when cracked it is fun (honestly). I also know how to be strategic to pass xams and get top grades

My approach is based on tailoring tutorials to meet the individual needs of the student. Non-judgmental, friendly, I use a variety of teaching techniques to identify strengths and weaknesses to develop deeper understanding of the challenging subject of economics and exam techniques.. My tutorials are fun, interactive, but non-pressured, using either, or both, online or in person typically one hour but can be longer or intensive courses.
I have a PhD, MSc, BA (Hons) in economics and am a Senior Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I also have a Post Graduate Certificate of Education. I have tutored individual students to achieve their target grades and above at A Level and have taught university students at all levels. I have also been an A Level Examiner and designed IB curriculum.
