About Anna
I am an experienced teacher and researcher. I have experience in the fields of education, applied linguistics, English language acquisition/development, and education psychology.
Although I now work primarily in education research (meaning I can write a lot and quickly!), I have worked as an Academic at The University of Melbourne for 11 years, where I continue to teach. I enjoy working with students of all levels, nationalities, language backgrounds, and genders!
I have worked as a high school, undergraduate, and graduate educator in Australia, Indonesia, Germany, the UK, and USA, and am happiest working with ages 15- 99. I enjoy teaching academic English, thesis writing, research skills, applied linguistics, and working with students on reflective and critical writing. I hold 7 degrees, including a PhD in Education, but I am also practical and realistic.
I grew up in Australia, but have travelled and lived in many countries. I love reading, drinking coffee, and cats!

In an era when ChatGPT can do a lot of things for us, I pride myself on helping my students to develop critical and creative thinking skills as a core part of my teaching practice.
I am warm, friendly, and approachable, and I aim to help you develop your skills while also improving your confidence and capacity to apply your new learnings. My lessons last for 60 minutes, in line with learning theory about our attention spans.
I am experienced with international students and students who speak English as an additional language, and I understand the impact culture and language can have on your achievement in English. I am also practical and realistic about teaching you the ways to be most efficient and effective with the time you have.
Most of all, I want to help you to achieve your goals, be more confident in your skills, and to stand out from the crowd.
