About Tara

I have spent eight years teaching French, working with 380 students ranging from complete beginners to those preparing for fluency focused travel or work abroad. My own path to teaching began after several years living and working in France, where I first noticed how differently language sticks when it is learned through genuine daily use rather than textbooks. I keep my lessons warm and encouraging, since I know how intimidating it feels to speak a new language out loud in front of someone else. Many of my students arrive nervous about their accent, and helping them relax into natural speech is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I stay in touch between sessions for quick pronunciation questions, because momentum matters enormously in the early stages of learning a language.

About the lesson

I build every French lesson around real conversation rather than isolated grammar drills, since students retain vocabulary far better when it is tied to something they actually want to say. Early sessions focus on listening and speaking before writing, because I believe confidence in spoken French removes most of the fear that blocks progress later. Grammar is introduced gradually through patterns noticed in conversation rather than memorised tables, and I revisit tricky structures across several sessions instead of expecting instant mastery. I record short voice notes for students to review between lessons, reinforcing pronunciation in their own time. Every session ends with a quick recap in French only, encouraging students to summarise what they learned using the language itself.
